    Any good US torch can hang with the main concern being ergonomics since torch preference is like rifle preference, ergonomics matter. I have many Victor torches and maintained a welding school fleet. They held up decently but the classic Victor torch head design should be offered in stainless steel like Concoa does. Victor charges a punitive amount of money for their torch head reamers (I can buy a Harley-Davidson crate engine for that price!) and their torch heads do warp. I own several examples and will eventually snag a used reamer then resell it. Just because Concoa are famous for steel torch heads doesn't mean others cannot sell them too.

    Victors have had tubes in line since the first combination heads.(I collect vintage and antique torches to us.) Nothing on this torch handle is new to the industry. Zamak is CHEAPer than brass and prone to corrosion in salt air (like harbor and shipboard work). Victor solved the fuel and oxygen differentiation issue on their old HD line by using two different size knobs on some handles, popular in mines etc because you can feel them and not need to eyeball the torch. For a REAL improvement how about using a cast steel head like Concoa? Those take heat better than standard Victor heads which relatively often need seat reaming. IMO some MBA was bored and looking for product differentiation.

  • @Comm0ut
    @Comm0ut 4 місяці тому

    How about selling torch epair tools at non-absurd prices? Hundreds of dollars for the torch head reamers (torch head seat distortion on Victor style heads is common) is an utter ripoff for the amount of machining involved forcing users who need a few minutes worth of seat cutting to send our torches out for overhaul. There is no excuse except vendor locking repairs which could easily be done in the field. Regulators are easy to rebuild in the field, torches too EXCEPT reseating the tips. Come on, Victor, you can do better for your loyal customers.

    Is the withdrowal rate a total amount for a cylinder or just at one time during use? They said per hour so I assume that means during one time of use. So how do you keep track of how much you have used?

    • @nathanvince4728
      @nathanvince4728 4 місяці тому

      1/7 of the cylinder volume per hour. you use a tip chart, it will tell you what pressures to set your gauges at for the tip you are using, and it will tell you the consumption of fuel per hour
